Vision

To study and appreciate the language of the Land, Devabhasha & thereby develop a sense of attachment to the Sanatana Dharma.

Mission:

To achieve the goals of teaching learning processes, that is listening, speaking, reading & writing.

History:

Department of Sanskrit was established in 1952.

The Faculty of the Department;

C. Smt. Kusuma kumari.
D. Smt. S Ramatulasi.
E. Dr. T. Parthasarathi.

Sanskrit is offered as second language to more than 250 students annually.
99% of the students pass annually.
Departmenthas a library of it’s own.
Students take part in various Co – Curricular, Extra activities like: Bhagavad Geetha – Recitation, Sanskrit Dictation, Group Discussion, Clean and Green Activities.
Student Seminars are conducted frequently.
Field trips are also organised.
Department competitions are conducted.
A few of the Alumniare working as Sanskrit Lecturers & Software Professionals.
Endowment Prize – One Endowment Prizeis instituted by Smt. S. Ramathulasi, retired lecturer of the department, for two students who secure highest marks in the SVU UG Examinations.
