Department of Mathematics

History:

The department of Mathematics in Sri Padmavathi Women’s Degree & PG College, TTD, Tirupati has been started along with other departments at the time of inception of the college in 1952. At present, this department is offering B.Sc / B.A and BSC Honours mathematics combination courses under UG programme affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. This department is one of the important departments in the college. In addition to a rigorous curriculum, the department offers a vibrant environment for students. The faculty members in this department motivate and stimulate our young mathematician to develop their knowledge and discipline. We are the only department to ensure the mathematical background to all other disciplines. Graduates of this Department are distinctively placed in reputed institutions and organizations.

To provide an environment where students can learn, become competent users of Mathematics and understand the use of Mathematics in other disciplines.

Mission:

To provide excellent knowledge of Mathematical sciences to the students for suitable career and groom them for National recognition. To develop analytical skills and logical acumen for problem solving.

2. Student Awards / Endowment prizes for the academic year 2022-23:

Lavanya of III B.Sc (MPCs) received “Excellence in Academics (Mathematical Sciences) Certificate” on 13-3-2023 in Students Success Meet organized by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati at Mahati Auditorium.

Students received prizes in VIT MATH FEST - 2022 on 22nd Dec’ 2022.

G.Saleema & K.Siri (II BSc MSCs) received Ist Prize in PPT Presentation.
M.Usha Sai & T.Ranjani (III BSc MSCs) received IInd Prize in PPT Presentation.
G.Dhanusha(III BSC MPC) ,K.Sathya(IIIBSc MPE)& T.Mallikadevi(II BSc MSCs) stood Runners in Quiz.

Got appreciation award to the Department for overall performance in VIT MATH FEST - 2022 was given by Vellore Institute of technology, Vellore, Tamilnadu.
G.V.Yamuna (III BSC MSCs) received Sri Srinivhasa Ayyengar prize for Highest marks secured in mathematics donated by S.Rangarajan.
O.Lavanya received Golden Jubilee Scholorship donated by Mrs.Rajeswari Murhy, former Principal of Sri Padmavathi Women’s Degree & PG College, TTD, Tirupati.
Ch.Sathvika received SRI JAGANNADHA SASTRY/HEMAMALINI memorial prize for best outgoing student donated by Sri. A.P.V.N.Sharma, IAS, former E.O,TTD.
G.Vaishnavi received Smt. Kunthalamma and Sri Addora Veeraragavaiah Merit Scholorship for Academic performance in the first two years of SVU Examinations by an NRI Student Dr. A. Subhodaya.
