History:

The Computer Science Department of Sri Padmavathi Womens College, TTD, Tirupati has established in the year 1991. The Founder and Head was Professor Dr. R.Prabhavathi, from 1991 to 2002who ran successfully and paved the way for development of the department. After her, Mrs. V.V. Ramani headed the department from 2003 to 2018. From 2018 to tilldate Dr.K.Uma Rani is acting as HOD. All the faculty members are highly qualified, well experienced, and hardworking, Striving hard for students bright future with personal and professional ethics. Always accessible to students to help in academics Aswell as their Personal problems. And looking after their overall wellbeing.To bring overall development among the students department is organizing student class room seminars, quiz, debate, elocution, drawing and essay writing competitions and many more.

The faculty is striving hard to bring best out come from the students. we follow internal assessments regularly without partiality and conducting study projects, assignments, monthly tests Every year the department getting 98-100% success rate in the University examinations. With high No of Distinctions. All the faculty members involved in giving continuous guidance regarding higher education, job opportunities, preparation techniques for both degree and competitive exams. Majority of our students were pursued and pursuing their higher degrees.

Department Goals

The goals of the computer and information sciences department are to prepare students for graduate training in some specialized area of computer science, to prepare students for jobs in industry, business or government, and to provide support courses for students in engineering, mathematics and other fields requiring computing skills.

The department offers 2 undergraduate programmes in Computer science as B.Sc. (M.P.Cs, and MSCs). Presently, B.Sc. Honours (Computer Science)prgramme is offered to students by the department under the affiliation of S.V.University, Tirupati.

Infrastructure:

1) Laboratories: Department has two well equipped laboratories - one in the Main Building and the second one in PG Block.

2) Incubation Center: Incubation Centre is a space for new age entrepreneurs and young minds to transform their innovative ideas.

ACTIVITIES

Webinar: National Webinar on “Security and Privacy in Social Networks” organized by the Dept. of Computer Science on 27th October 2020.The aim of the webinar is to create awareness among the participants about security & Privacy issues in Social Networks.

Seminar : One day seminar Organized by Dept. of Computer Science Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sri Padmavathi Women’s Degree P.G. College, Tirupati in collaboration with Anudip Foundations, Tirupati. The aim of the seminar is to create awareness among the participants about Cybercrimes and ethical hackers and how to protect from them.

Workshop : Workshop on “Web applications and development of web pages” and “ Cyber Security” are organized to enhance the skills of Students in the department.

Different Events are conducted to enhance the knowledge of students within the subject or other subjects related to computers which are not part of syllabi

Identify the port : The event was highly focused on testing the students knowledge on different ports in the computer.

Elocution : Elocution on different topics of computer science which is not confined to the syllabus.

Code Cracking : To solve the code and find the error in programming Languages.

Quiz : Quiz challenge the students to work in groups, which helps them build their collaboration skills.

Placements : Online Examinations for different companies like WIPRO, TCS.

Awards : Placement Achiever’s Award Received by MSCs & MPCs from TTD Management for their placements.
