Biochemistry subject to B.Sc Home science students was introduced and taught since theinception of the Home Science department in the college. General Biochemistry was introduced as a separate subject for general B.Sc stream in CBCN group from the academic year 2002-2003. Biochemistry department was existed as independent department during the academic year 2008-2009. Senior faculty from the Chemistry department were engaged as incharge lecturers from 2008-2012.
Dr. Y. Sireesha from the academic year 2012-2013 was utilizing her services as in-charge lecturer to till date.

At present Dr.Y. Sireesha is the Head of the Department and other faculty members included are Dr.T.K Padmaja and Dr.S.Varalakshmi. All the faculty members now working are highly qualified, talented, experienced and committed to their duties. The faculty members lay emphasis on inclusion of modern teaching technologies viz, Digital class room, Bio visual charts, virtual models, videos and practical demonstrations.
Infrastructure:
The department has two laboratories namely Watson & Crick laboratory and Kreb’s laboratory. These two laboratories are well equipped to do qualitative and quantitative analysis and other experiments included in the practical syllabus.
Research:
The lab facilities are utilised for all students study projects also.
Books:
Departmental library books are also available for students, quick reference.
