History:

The subject of Economics B.A Course was introduced in the year 1956 with English medium by Mrs Parvatha Vardhini and she worked as a lecturer and HOD. After her prof.P.Lakshmi Devi was appointed as Head of the Department in the 1956 and continued in the same cadre till 1983. Dr.Shantha N. Nair was appointed as aLecturer in 1965. She worked as a lecturer and HOD till her retirement in 1999. Dr.M.Ratnawas appointed as lecturer In the year 1968. She worked as a lecturer from 1968 to 1990. Mrs.V.Pullamma served in the Dept as a lecturer from 1973 to 2001. Miss.S.V.Seetha Devi worked as a lecturer from 1976 to 2006 Smt.V.Madhusudani served as a lecturerin the department from 2003 to 2009. Dr.V.Kusuma kumari served as a lecturer in the department from 2003 to 2019.

At present Smt.P.Sarada is the Head Of the Department and other faculty member include Sri Y. Venkataramana Reddy.

Presently BA programme Honours (Economics) course is offered to students by theDepartment under the affiliation of S V university Tirupati.
